ALEJANDRO DE LA TORRE

about me
I'm Alejandro. Born in California, raised in a small town in Mexico, and now based in South Bend, Indiana, I create films upon the conviction that a good storytelling builds bridges between people. I also strongly believe that cinema and other derived type of media are amazing and powerful tools to show what people is doing to help the world to become a better place to live.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts from the University of Guadalajara and have focused my career on directing documentary films, cinematography, and editing.I’ve participated in international workshops led by filmmakers such as Gianfranco Rosi, Ernesto Pardo, Everardo González, among others. Since 2018 I have filmed in Mexico, Panama, Cuba and the United States. My films (and those where I have collaborated as a DoP and Editor) have been screened in competition at international film festivals, such as the International Film Festival in Guadalajara, Global Lift Tokyo 2024, Monterrey International Film Festival, among others.I'm also the founder of the startup Babel Storytelling, a commercial side of my work which helps institutions, business, associations and organizations to bring up to life their stories and ideas trough storytelling, media, and other forms of audiovisual content.
