ALEJANDRO DE LA TORRE
Filmmaker graduated from the Department of Image and Sound at the University of Guadalajara with a Bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Arts. Throughout his career, he has focused on directing, editing, and cinematography, with a particular inclination toward non-fiction narratives.
Originally from Mezquitic, Jalisco, he encountered filmmaking and editing at the age of seventeen—tools that have accompanied him ever since his earliest explorations. His projects and collaborations have competed at the Morelia International Film Festival, the Guadalajara International Film Festival, the Puerto Rico International Film Festival, the Monterrey International Film Festival, Shorts México, among others. His most recent collaboration, Somewhere Within Me, a documentary he co-wrote and shot, won the Best International Documentary Award at the Puerto Rico Film Festival in its 2025 edition.
He has also taken part in international training programs, such as the workshop Filming in Cuba and the Art of Immersion at the International School of Film and Television, and the ACAMPADOC residency in La Villa de los Santos, Panama. These experiences have allowed him to learn from some of the most representative figures of contemporary cinema, including Gianfranco Rosi, Jean Perret, Ernesto Pardo, Everardo González, and Tatiana Huezo, among others.
